Zachary Morman - Summer Engineering Intern

Family. That’s the best way to describe how you get treated here at Carpenter Marty Transportation. Everyone that I worked with was always happy to help and answer any of my questions, and I had a ton of them. I was here to learn and that’s exactly what I did. It’s amazing what you can learn when you are willing to put in the time and effort. During my internship I was able to get a feel for a few specialties in the field of engineering.

The Carpenter Marty Transportation team has taught me so much in a short time. I learned new things every day. While it was a lot to take in, it was a good thing or so they say. Dan has done a great job of teaching me about roadway design and MicroStation, which is a feat in its own. I went from having no MicroStation experience to being able to manage a decent amount of work in just a couple months. Gina and Greg taught me how to clean crashes and draw diagrams used to design safer intersections. Chelsea taught me how to setup traffic cameras and use the data to create and calculate traffic volumes at intersections. Andy taught me about right-of-way, how to draw properties from deeds, and how to clean up survey basemaps.

Fun Loving Thursday BowlingThey also know how to have fun here too! The office can sometimes be noisy with people talking about their weekends or joking around. Fun-loving Thursday’s are a great time. It turns out I’m not as good at trivia as I thought I was. I am however, just good enough at bowling not to win the dreaded last place horse trophy. Good thing too because I would have never heard the end of it. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here at Carpenter Marty Transportation.  Kevin and Bill have done a great job with creating a motivating and productive work environment that also promotes a good balance between work and fun.
