Gentry Memorial Bridge 6 Year Inspection -

The SFC Terrance N. Gentry Memorial Bridges are twin structures that run north and south carrying WV Route 10 over the Guyandotte River and CSX Railroad. The dual bridges consist of four welded steel plate girders each and two six span continuous plate girders with an overall length of approximately 2,216’. During a review of the existing In-Depth Routine Inspection Report, Carpenter Marty Transportation determined there are no fracture critical items present on the structures because of load path redundancy. However, there is some concern of web distortion that is being closely monitored. Carpenter Marty Transportation will apply conventional access techniques including the use of underbridge inspection units, a 135’ aerial lift, and a skyclimber basket to gain access to all portions of the structure. A single lane road closure and use of multiple underbridge inspection units allow the inspection to be completed efficiently with minimal disruption to the traveling public.
