2018 Corporate Champion Award

Carpenter Marty Transportation is honored to receive the 2018 Volunteer Administrators Network of Central Ohio Corporate Champion Award.  This award recognizes a for-profit organization that promotes, recognizes, and has a commitment to employee volunteerism.

Nick Linkenhoker, Executive Director of the Worthington Resource Pantry, graciously completed our nomination. The Worthington Resource Pantry is more than a food pantry. They are a resource center that educates, feeds, and comforts people who need a helping hand during rough economic times. Carpenter Marty Transportation has supported the Pantry and their mission for more than three years, and we look forward to many more.

“Carpenter Marty Transportation has been an invaluable partner in providing healthy food to our neighbors. They join the pantry every month on our busiest day to stock shelves, shop, interview, greet, and do anything that needs to be done. They differentiate themselves from other corporate volunteer partners by asking specifically when we need their help and not expecting us to provide volunteer opportunities on their schedule. They are consistently lauded by other volunteers and neighbors for their happy, fun attitude. Everyone from the principals at the firm to their summer interns have volunteered for shifts at the Pantry. They frequently encourage new hires to participate in the volunteer program (which happens after works hours).” – Nick Linkenhoker

The volunteer partnership between Carpenter Marty Transportation and the Worthington Resource Pantry began shortly after moving into our Columbus office in 2015. Our firm was looking for opportunities to give back and support the local community, and we found a great match in the Pantry located just around the corner from our office location.

Our volunteer team typically includes 2-3 employees that support the pantry staff and neighbors the fourth Wednesday evening of each month. The monthly shift with the Pantry has become a routine event for many of our staff. The support, friendship, and fun that the Pantry staff and other volunteers provide keeps us coming back month after month. To date, our team has volunteered more than 500 hours with the Worthington Resource Pantry, and we look forward to continuing this partnership.
